One group was in favor of Khusrau's accession to the throne while the other was in favor of Jahangir. Jahangir's supporters were many, so Akbar placed the royal crown on Jahangir's head. Therefore, Jahangir ascended the throne on October 24, 1605.

The beginning of a new era was celebrated with extraordinary pomp and ceremony. The era of Adil Jahangiri began. A gold chain was tied to the Sheh Burji of Agra Fort and hung from a pillar on the bank of the river Jumna. It had 60 bells. The command was to seek the justice of the oppressed, to shake this chain. The king's shadow of affection will immediately embrace him.

Jahangir's initial conditions:

As soon as he ascended the throne, Jahangir took several steps. Enacted a constitution containing 12 orders. Hang a chain of justice so that the grievances can be heard and they can easily reach the emperor. The chain was tied between the suspected fort of Agra Fort and the banks of the Jumna.
